Systems Director for Medic*tion Safety | Lee Health

Sally Sims, PharmD, CPh, LSSGB, CPPS, FACHE, is the System Director for Medic*tion Safety at Lee Health System in Fort Myers, FL. In this role, she provides leadership for: Medic*tion Safety Strategy & Governance; Error Prevention & Risk Management; Data, Metrics & Reporting; Regulatory & Accreditation Compliance; System Design &Technology Optimization; Education & Culture of Safety; Policy, Standardization & Best Practices; and Leadership & Collaboration. As Chair for Lee Health System Ph*rm*cy Quality and Safety and System Medic*tion Safety Committees, she coaches stakeholders in metrics development and data analysis to drive outcomes-focused performance improvement. Dr. Sims spent over a decade specializing in Patient and Medic*tion Safety with formal achievements that include Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification, AHRQ TeamSTEPPS Master Trainer, Just Culture Champion, and Certified Professional in Patient Safety [CPPS]. Health system leadership acumen and her systems thinking approach led to the pursuit and attainment of the Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives [FACHE] designation in 2024. During 25 years of service in the healthcare industry, Dr. Sims held roles at the Regional, Market, and Department Director levels in addition to serving as a Medic*tion Safety Coordinator and Patient Safety Officer. Her experience crosses all patient populations and encompasses acute care and ambulatory practice settings.
