There will be 3 zones, Sacrifice zone, Addiction zone and prayer zone that it built by various installation artists channeling pathways to call onto our agency in a world where we feel low control.
Here's a preview of the work trying to be addressed - “The systems that uphold the climate crisis rely on the existence of sacrifice zones,”. Sacrifice zones are a direct byproduct of a system that prioritizes profits over the lives of poor, predominately black and brown folks. Addressing the climate crisis means eliminating sacrifice zones altogether and protecting vulnerable geographical areas from further environmental degradation. It means reimagining exploitative systems that are eroding Indigenous cultural wisdom to maximize profits from mass-production. Sacrifice zones are intentionally placed in areas that are out of sight and out of mind, especially from wealthier, extractive economies in the Global North. However, pollution is pervasive and knows no bounds. The deeply interconnected nature of our ecosystem is apparent in harmful industrial behaviors such as toxic waste production. On the other hand, this ecological concept also applies to positive, sustainable changes. Imagine a world without sacrifice zones—where the basic rights of marginalized communities, their cultural identities, and the natural environment are all respected. How would that systematically impact human health and nonhuman creatures globally? Dismantling the inherently racist and capitalist creation of sacrifice zones is a crucial factor in combating the climate crisis and achieving environmental justice.
You can’t have climate change without sacrifice zones, and you can’t have sacrifice zones without disposable people, and you can’t have disposable people without racism.

The following guidelines for prevention and protection are designed so that we can co - create a space as safe as possible for everyone.
WE ENCOURAGE N95 MASKING INDOORS : We specifically request that all visitors to the church wear an N95 mask and maintain 6 feet or more distance if they have been in close physical proximity to someone who has symptoms of a cold, flu, respiratory cough , runny nose , sore throat , consistent sneezing, and/or has tested positive for COVID. Please do not enter the premises if you have been exposed to anyone with COVID and / or if you have tested positive within the past 10 days . A medical clinic/lab can determine test results .
Accessibility: First Congregational Church of Oakland
A nearly 100-year-old building built at the top of a steep hill. Here are some details about
accessibility:
1. The church is at the top of a steep hill, and there is currently no accessible route from the street-level sidewalk and
bus stop to the accessible entrance. We are looking into ways to address this, but for now, guests in wheelchairs or
scooters need to drive or be dropped off at the top of the back parking lot.
2. Wheelchair users do access the building with assistance by driving or being dropped off at the top of the back
parking lot. There are several designated disabled parking spots and there is a ramp with ADA-compliant slope
from the back parking lot to a sidewalk leading to both the sanctuary side door and the blue door through which
most ground-floor rooms are accessible. NOTE: This is NOT the steep ramp but the more gradual one to its right as
you face the building. Even so, assistance might be helpful with this ramp.
3. Unless a member of your group has propped the door open, wheelchair users will need assistance opening the blue
door since there is not yet a push button switch on it.
4. Once inside, most ground-floor rooms are accessible using a wheelchair.
5. There is one gender neutral ADA compliant restroom and one ADA compliant stall in the women’s restroom at the
center of the ground floor. The restrooms nearest the sanctuary are gender neutral and are large enough for scooters
and wheelchairs – they have grab bars and accessible door handles.
6. Scented cleaning products
