What is FASD?
FASD is a lifelong neurodevelopmental condition caused by prenatal alcohol exposure. It can affect brain development, behaviour, learning, growth and overall health throughout a person's life.
There is no safe amount, type or timing of alcohol during pregnancy. Alcohol exposure at any stage of pregnancy can cause harm, including before a pregnancy is confirmed.
FASD is the leading cause of preventable disability in Australia. It is estimated to affect approximately 3.64% of Australians, equivalent to around one child in every classroom. Raising awareness and understanding is an important step in supporting individuals living with FASD and preventing future harms.
❤️ Everyone is welcome.
