With the help of his wife, Eleanor, and their junk-food-addicted twin daughters, Farmer Carter hires a private investigator to get to the bottom of this perplexing peanut puzzle. Maybe it was their neighbors, jealous of Farmer Carter's successful crop year after year. Or was it, perhaps, the protest group CIABATTA, Circus Is Always Bad and Torturous Toward Animals, or even NAAN, Nomads Against Animal Neglect, fighting to eliminate the circus?
