The name Far Across the Sea originally comes from the Cantonese pronunciation of the Lunar New Year flower market—「花市」(faa¹ si⁵), sounding like “far sea”. It reflects the experience of celebrating our cultural festivals far across the sea from home.
This September, we’re bringing that same warm and joyful community spirit to Brighton’s Moon Festival—creating something that feels familiar to ESEA communities while welcoming everyone to discover and enjoy the richness of our cultures.
