EVENT DESCRIPTION:"World building can be tricky. Depending on how detailed you want to get, you could spend endless hours breaking down to the minutia of every aspect of your world, or you could try to rush it and have plot holes and inconsistencies which lead to a less satisfying overall experience.
Then there’re the storytelling itself. How do you create a storyline flexible enough to incorporate the unique characters you’ve created but still capture the level of detail your world deserves? Even then, how do you deliver it in a compelling way? Believe it or not there are tricks you can learn to make worldbuilding and storytelling easier. Take it from someone who’s spent far too long agonising over how a map looks and why the people of a mythical land won’t say particular words.
Come spend a session with published fantasy author L.B. Holden (Succession Series: Recovery already out, Revelations out in April) to unpack, explore and troubleshoot common problems authors face when they’re creating a whole new world full of adventure and intrigue, whilst also creating a small basic story using L.B's storytelling structure."

All participants are required to bring their own notepads and pens/pencils.

This event is the latest iteration of collaborative efforts between published author L.B. Holden and Unplugged Games to create and expand workshops targeted towards existing and emerging storytellers – including but not limited to DMs.
This workshop is designed to be a ‘stand-alone’ workshop, however, it can be adjusted each time, depending on the existing experience and dynamics of the group. The overall purpose of the workshop is to create a supportive community who lift each other in their creative pursuits.
The next workshop will be the fourth time this workshop has been run, but every time the content is slightly different. The main components are consistent, but the depth of discussions being held is increasing every time. Due to the nature of the workshop, L.B. always welcomes any feedback that comes out through the sessions, and can make adjustments between sessions, so the experience for the participants is responsive to their needs.
L.B. Holden can commit to once every one – two months on a regular basis.
About the Author:
L.B. HOLDEN was born in SE Queensland, Australia, as the youngest of five children. Her early enthusiasm for reading inspired her to start writing as a young teenager; however, she put aside her half-completed work after meeting her partner and began her journey of study, work, and raising children.
After a break of 15 years, LB’s passion for writing remained. She revived her original stories, finding that her life experiences enabled her to add more nuance to her characters and more intricate layers to the original plotlines.
LB’s published her first novel in the Succession Series – Recovery in 2025, the second book in the series is due to be released April 2026.
