Fantastic Trees at Walthamstow Wetlands

Did you know that there are around 73 000 tree species in the world, 79 of which can be found in the UK? Trees create a variety of microhabitats for wildlife - from birds creating nests in them to pollinators feeding on their nectar-rich flowers. Woodlands are vital for all of us - we rely on them for clean air, carbon storage and flood protection.

Join Lora, Visitor Engagement Officer on a gentle walk around Walthamstow Wetlands where we will learn about the trees' adaptations to winter and learn how to identify some of the species found around the reserve by looking at the bark texture, colour and buds when leaves had fallen off. We will then return to the visitor centre for a craft activity using fallen tree material we collect on the walk.

Meet for the walk at the Engine House Visitor Centre. Please dress for the weather and note, some paths are uneven, so walking shoes/boots are recommended. This walk is aimed at people aged over 18.
