NL Anderhalve eeuw na haar dood hangt de schaduw van Ranavalona I nog steeds over de geschiedenis van Madagaskar. Maar wat is eigenlijk de erfenis van deze vrouw van de macht, die nooit ophield de autonomie van haar eiland te verdedigen tegen de aanvallen van de koloniale machten? Dit nieuwe werk, een mix van radiovertellingen, muzikale compositie en choreografie, herinnert ons eraan dat onze lichamen, net als onze woorden, de dragers van verhalen zijn. FR Un siècle et demi après sa mort, l’ombre de Ranavalona Ière plane encore sur l’histoire de Madagascar. Mais qu’en est-il réellement de l’héritage de cette femme de pouvoir, qui n’a cessé de défendre l’autonomie de son île face aux assauts des puissances coloniales ? Entre récit radiophonique, composition musicale et création chorégraphique, cette nouvelle création nous rappelle que nos corps, au même titre que nos paroles, sont porteurs d’histoires.
EN Some 150 years after her death, the shadow of Ranavalona I still hangs over the history of Madagascar. But what is really the legacy of this powerful female, who never ceased to defend the autonomy of her island against the onslaught of the colonial powers? This new work is a mix of radio narrative, musical composition and choreographic creation that reminds us that our bodies, just like our words, are the bearers of stories.
