Experience Feltham’s historic past, recent icons Queen stars Freddie Mercury and Brian May, as well as Olympic Champion Mo Farah.
Walk the historic Longford River, and discover the royal past of Hanworth, including Henry VIII, Queen Elizabeth I, Anne Boleyn and Catherine Parr. See Feltham’s green spaces, and local community creativity, including sites linked to Feltham’s pioneering aviation and automobile history. Learn about the biodiversity of the area and how you can support it.
Meet at the entrance to Bridge House Pond on Hanworth Rd/ Feltham High Street junction by the flagpole, opposite Feltham station and St Catherine’s Spire.

This walk is a figure of 8 loop, with option to finish at 12.15 if needed.
We will walk from the pond south into Hanworth Air Park back to the pond (5km) and then do a northern loop (2km). On the way we will point out sights of interest and let you know where toilet stops are.
Please wear appropriate clothes and garments for the weather and conditions. There aren't any major inclines, paths will be pavements and in parks. There will be some crossing of roads. Bring water! More detail below.
There will be cafes' on the way and an option at the end to stop and have lunch together. But please bring snacks for your walk if you need them.
Please be on time - we will leave promptly at 10am.

Your walk leaders are:
Rich Clarke - a past local with a fascination for the incredible history of the area. Founder of the Bridge House Pond project & initiator of the Feltham mosaic project at the station.
Sarah Houghton - a local teacher. Founder of the Hanworth Air Park Biodiversity Project an 'Environmental & Education' initiative of the Friends of Hanworth Park House. She, with others, are in the process of setting up a 'Friends of Hanworth Air Park' group to help protect and enhance the biodiversity on the park and the surrounding area for the benefit of nature and the public. She's a forager and interested in the rich culture of backwater areas.
