About this Event

In this workshop with authors Clayton Zane Comber and Conor McCammon, you’ll learn how to come up with ideas and use your senses to bring locations and stories to life. Get tips to help you invent interesting characters, keep readers engaged, collaborate with friends and craft basic illustrations. These sessions are designed to be engaging, boisterous, fun exercises that help students unlock their imagination and develop their creative potential.

Recommended for ages 6 to 12. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Clayton Zane Comber is the author of Gimme Some Space, The Marvellous Submarine and 100 Remarkable Feats of Xander Maze, all published by HarperCollins. In 2022, he was shortlisted for a Prime Minister’s Literary Award. Clay has been a speaker and workshop leader for writers’ festivals and schools all around Australia. In addition to writing, Clay is also a DJ.

Conor McCammon has been writing stories for as long as he can remember. He grew up at Werri Beach surrounded by family, cats, and a whole lot of books. When Conor's not writing and illustrating, he works in policy, which involves considerably fewer talking animals.

This event is presented in partnership with Sydney Writers’ Festival.
