Family Safety Day: Hanging with Heroes is a FREE family-friendly event with one powerful mission: to help keep San Diego families safe—while having an unforgettable time. Meet the real-life heroes who serve and protect our community every day from first responders to federal agents plus surprise appearances from big-screen superheroes and beloved kids’ characters like Spider-Man Bluey Stitch and more!This day is packed with essential safety resources hands-on learning and fun for all ages. Families can explore CPR demos cyber safety tips fire and water safety rattlesnake encounters from Ecovivarium’s Mobile Zoo car seat checks by Safe Kids San Diego and so much more. With over 100+ partners in attendance—from nonprofits to local health and wellness providers—you’ll walk away empowered with knowledge and support to help keep your family safe and thriving.
🚒 Hero Headquarters lets kids climb into fire engines police cruisers and rescue trucks while meeting local officers and emergency teams up close.
🦸 Superhero Support Zone connects families with trusted local resources like San Diego Youth Services Burn Institute and more.
🎉 The SuperKids Zone brings the fun with inflatables obstacle courses arcade basketball face painting bubbles balloons and a live DJ!
🐍 Reptile lovers can get up close with 16–18 exotic animals from Ecovivarium’s Mobile Zoo.
🍧 Grab a bite at our food trucks and Novo Brazil Brewpub and don’t forget about the sweet treats and more available for purchase
📚 Bring new school supplies for our Back to School Drive benefitting Boys & Girls Clubs
Costumes are encouraged for kids and superhero fun is everywhere—from scavenger hunts and photo ops to our popular Superhero Costume Contest. This event is rain or shine and it’s one you won’t want to miss.
