Family Promise of Blount County 2024 Night Without Bed

Join us for Night Without a Bed, an annual event aimed at raising awareness and funds to combat family homelessness in Blount County. On September 28, 2024, participants will spend the night sleeping without the comfort of a bed, gaining a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by those experiencing homelessness.

The event will take place a1830 Clydesdale St., Maryville, TN 37801 (former Sycamore Tree United Methodist Chuch) from 3pm on the 28th to 8am on the 29th. Set up for cardboard cities will begin at 3pm on the 28th, with judging commencing at 6:00pm. Cardboard cities will be set up by participants throughout the field, with bathroom facilities and food purchase options at the concessions stand. To enhance the experience, we'll have games like cornhole available for participants.

Youth groups are encouraged to form teams and participate in the cardboard city-building competition. Each team must secure a $10 sponsor for each cardboard box used, with no limit on team size or number of boxes. Please note that clean-up is the responsibility of each individual team, and all boxes must be taken away by the participating teams.

The rules are simple: no sleeping accommodations will be provided, and participants are encouraged to sleep in their cardboard cities, tents, or cars – anything but a bed! The $10 per box fee is due at the time of registration.

Prizes will be awarded in several categories, including the amount of money raised, largest city, most creative city, fan-favorite city, and overall winner. All funds raised during this event will support the new Static Shelter site, which will provide essential services to individuals in need.
