About this Event

Family Program: To Avoid Drowning, Become the OceanSaturday, August 15 | 10–11 AM

Over the years, many of the artists, supporters, and collaborators who make up The Luminary's community have become parents. This new series is one small way we're creating space for them and for a new generation to experience art together.Held during the closing weekend of Sam Hamilton's exhibition, To Avoid Drowning, Become the Ocean, this free program invites families to explore the exhibition together through stories, sounds, movement, and making.

We'll read a picture book inspired by the ocean, listen to Hamilton's immersive sound installation, move our bodies together, and finish with a collaborative drawing activity designed for children and caregivers to create side by side.

Led by a trained art and museum educator, this playful, developmentally appropriate program offers a welcoming introduction to contemporary art through imagination, exploration, and shared creativity. Free and open to all. Registration is highly encouraged.
