Dreamcatcher is a collection of traditional tales from Native America, and the Native American perspective, full of entertaining lessons from Turtle Island. It is also a celebration of beauty and simplicity, of imagination, and of the power of community. Leland Faulkner communicates humanity and history in his work, and his visions are brought to life using the tools of theater, mime, spoken word, and visual magic. Leland Faulkner is a mime, magician, and comedian, who grew up in Africa, Afghanistan, and Iran, and has traveled throughout Europe and the Far East. He studied with a variety of distinguished teachers, including master mime artist Tony Montanaro, who he partnered with for three years.
“In the Chippewa/Anishanabe language my name is Wabuzouns, Little Rabbit. In my Dreamcatcher program, those who listen and watch will travel through time and imagination with traditional tales from Native America.” -Leland Faulkner.
If you want to walk the path leading to the world of story, follow Leland Little Rabbit to the Arcata Playhouse on Saturday, April 27, with two showtimes: 2 and 7 pm. Doors open thirty minutes before the show, and concessions are available. About the Family Fun Series: Since 2007, the Family Fun Series is one of the most popular annual features of Playhouse Arts. National and international performers come to the Arcata Playhouse every spring with shows designed to delight children and adults alike. Hundreds of elementary school students attend these shows at the Playhouse during the week, and a Saturday matinee and evening performance of each show is added for the enjoyment of all.
Dreamcatcher is the first show in the Family Fun Series, 2024. The second show in the series will be on Jun 1, 2024 by Boxtales Theatre Company.
