This is a FREE fishing event aimed to give our community a great day outdoors together!Come fish the two stocked ponds, go hike on the trails, have a picnic, play some disc golf, and enjoy some wholesome fellowship!
Fishing starts at 8am but feel free to come anytime from 8am-3pm. Fly fishing and regular fishing are both encouraged.
There will be limited assistance for those who want to learn to fly fish or better their skills. We have a couple fly rods for those who want to learn. We will have 30+ poles and gear for kids to fish if they need them, first come first serve. There will be a competition to see who can catch the biggest fish of the day as well!
The lake is handicap assessible and fishing is open to the public (fishing license is required if over 18).
Directions: Independence Park is down Lowry St. towards Bedford Family Eye care and Edward Jones Financial Advisors. The entrance to the park is almost at the end of Lowry St and is on your right. You will see a kiosk at the top that says Independence Park. The lower part of the access road to the parking lot can become rutted if there has been a heavy rain so use caution. We will have signs warning people if so. There is an upper parking lot that avoids that section altogether.
