This hands-on workshop begins with a brief gallery tour of Painting at the End of the Ice Age and a conversation about artist David Rosenthal’s use of watercolor sketches and photographs made in the field as references for his oil paintings of glacial landscapes. Back in Art Lab, create a reusable watercolor palette using upcycled tins and custom polymer clay inserts; perfect for capturing your impressions on the go. Tins will be provided, but if you have a special tin you'd like to turn into a palette, feel free to bring it.
This class is open to families of all ages and best for ages 10 and up (younger students may need extra assistance). All materials provided; $15 materials fee per registrant, plus museum admission. Registration required.
2-4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, in the Discovery Center, Art Lab
