Join us for a fun and creative workshop during Sukkot, a special Jewish holiday that celebrates the harvest and the journey of the Israelites out of Egypt. One of the traditions of Sukkot is using a "Lulav" (a bundle of three types of tree branches) and an "Etrog" (a citrus fruit that looks like a lemon). In this workshop, we will make our own local lulavs using plants that grow around Toronto. You’ll learn about the special meanings of different plants before making your own bundles.
Join Aaron Rotenberg from Annex Shul as he shows us how making a local lulav is not only a meaningful tradition but also helps take care of our planet. Let’s get creative and learn how to make our holiday rituals more eco-friendly!
About Aaron:
Aaron Rotenberg serves as the Spiritual Leader of Annex Shul in downtown Toronto and is studying towards rabbinic ordination through ALEPH: Alliance for Jewish Renewal. He completed a certificate program in Earth-Based Judaism from ALEPH and loves learning about local plants and ecosystems.
This program is for kids ages 6-12, and presented in partnership with Annex Shul.
