Volunteers are being accepted to help in the restoration
of the USS Stewart and the USS Cavalla at the
GALVESTON NAVAL MUSEUM, Seawolf Park, Galveston, Texas.
Help us preserve and restore US Navy history. Spend time on vessels that saw action in WWII and served America through the Vietnam conflict! USS Cavalla is known as the Avenger of Pearl Harbor and a CARRIER KILLER for sinking the IJN Shokaku on her first war patrol. Of the 85 EDSALL CLASS Destroyer Escorts built in Houston during WW2, USS Stewart is the last of her class. DE’s played a vital role in protecting merchant convoys and in 1944, even drove off the Imperial Japanese fleet in the Battle of Leyte!
