Fall Photo hikes are an occasion to walk with a park ranger and explore locations, techniques, and ideas for photographing the natural beauty of Washoe County. Please bring your choice of camera - can be any type, including film, digital, cell phone camera or maybe something you built yourself! We recommend also bringing comfortable walking shoes or boots, a water bottle, and sunscreen, sunglasses, and/or sunhat.
Upper Thomas creek trail is a multi-use trail shared by hikers, mountain bikers and equestrians and is an easy to moderate walk along the creek. This will be an out and back hike through Aspens, cottonwoods and pocket meadows. opportunities include viewing mule deer feeding on bitter brush, quail scuttling through brush and brook trout resting in creek pools. Will discuss how the indigenous Washoe people utilized and moved through Thomas creek canyon.
