It is the intention of the Honolulu Lance of the Company of Saint George to hold the field against all challengers on the day of November the 6th on the beautiful island of Oahu. This Lance of the Company of Saint George, known here as tenans, wished to gain renown in these martial arts as well as our pursuit of knowledge and excellence in the realm of living history; as well as present the opportunity for all others to join in these pursuits.
The Honolulu Lance of the Company of Saint George will act as tenons and accept challenges from those who wish to gain renown. Challengers, who are known as venans, may come from any background, including but not limited to SCA, HEMA, foam fighting, lightsabers, or any other art derived from the chivalric age.
Renown will be granted to those who show chivalric values both on and off the field. These values encompass compassion, courage, fidelity, humility, largess, and many more.
Those who wish to enter should prepare their harness and present on the field in order to inspire others. Gifts should be at hand for those deemed worthy. All combatants are encouraged to bring a consort who inspires and gives honor to the fight.
Combatants are encouraged to bring their best armor, weapons, pageantry and more to the field this day.
Challenges are to be made by the venans in turn to the tenans. Challenges may be issued in one of the following styles
• Counted blows, irrespective of armor
• Counted blows, armor counts
• To satisfaction
Weapons will be approved by the combatants and reviewed by the marshal and event organizers for safety.
Weapons may include: Sword in two hands, Sword in One hand, Spear, Dagger, Sword and Buckler, or Poleaxe. Armor and other equipment must be appropriate for the weapon choice, i.e., armor must be worn to fight with poleaxes.
Weapons may be of synthetic materials or rebated steel. Weapon materials will be agreed upon by the combatants before entering the field and they must have appropriate protection for the weapon choice.
Combatants will count their own blows; a marshal will only intercede for safety issues and will act as a third voice only if the combatants are unsure of the blow.
There will be 4 passes with an intermezzo melee between each pass.
After the 4th and final pass, champions will be chosen for a final bout to delight us all.
Set up at noon
Tournament starts at 1pm
A feast will follow for all to recount the days events. Food will be provided by Schola Saint George Honolulu, a $20 donation is requested
