We’re a bit rusty, but we are brushing the dust off some chairs at the rec centre for a fall park meeting - so be kind ;-) Our Mission? We hope to ensure that the park will be maintained as a healthy public green space for decades to come. Toronto’s parks are often referred to as the “lungs” of our city. Besides providing a welcome refuge from the hurly burly of city life, park trees and public greens help clean our air of pollutants. Historically designated as an arboretum Trinity Bellwoods Park, contains some of the oldest and most unique trees in Toronto. We want to take care of the existing natural environment and gradually improve it over time. Fun fact: “Trinity Bellwoods” is the largest downtown green space and is 14.62 hectares/35 acres large!
Please come and meet the group that currently make up the Friends and are lead our initiatives. Meet like-minded others that care about the park, discover how things work or how to get involved. Perhaps you have a park idea you like to explore and would like feedback/guidance on how to achieve? Or have a skill that could help sustain the Friends i.e. taking notes and/or coordinating meetings, contribute to maintaining our online presence, or maybe you just want to do some W**d pulling.
The Friends are all volunteers and do what we do on our own time. We all immensely enjoy what this park has to offer and how it enriches our day to day. Everyone is welcome to meetings and mutual respect for the diversity of voices and perspectives is expected. Please bring your curiosity, patience, questions/concerns for some engaging conversations!
We hope to have relevant city staff attend to report back on issues that that Friends have brought up and field questions.
