About this Event

IN STUDIO Workshop at Green Yogi MLK

Let’s go upside down and explore your journey into handstand!
This 90-minute clinic will include a warm up for the wrists and shoulders, vinyasa to build heat in the body, and plenty of drills to look at handstands in different ways, using the wall and props. We’ll finish with restorative postures and spend some time in savasana.
Get in touch with the subtle aspects of your body and mind to find presence and control. We will explore various tools and approaches to build up to handstand (adho mukha vrksasana). Come and learn more about this invigorating pose so that you can practice it in the flow, because, it’s FUN!
Prerequisite: Able to hold full plank for ten breaths. Open to anyone who is interested in learning about handstands from a yoga perspective.
Schedule:
Warmup/vinyasa flow
Focus on shoulders, wrists, hand and eye placement

About the facilitator:
Reba stumbled upon yoga around 2002. She was living in Boston after returning from the Peace Corps in Mali, an experience that taught her about the real power of community. Seeking ways to process her time abroad, and looking for community, she was fortunate to discover both at the Baptiste Power Yoga Institute.
There, Reba practiced and trained for five years, becoming a hands-on alignment assistant in 2007 and completing her 200-hour teacher training in 2009. She also mentored students in hands-on assistant trainings at the school in 2008 and 2009.
She grew up in Maine, but has been obsessed with the California lifestyle from a young age--cue palm trees, Highway 1, beaches. Reba moved to Oakland, California in 2010 to deepen her practice and diversify her yoga studies (and to escape the east coast winters). She mainly teaches alignment-focused vinyasa flow yoga, meditation, and pranayama practices, and yoga for runners. She also enjoys collaborating with the Love Your Brain Foundation, supporting those with traumatic brain injury (TBI) by sharing yoga and meditation practices. Reba is continually participating in advanced trainings and mentorships with many teachers in the Bay Area, and expanding her offerings as her practice evolves.
