11 a.m. - Make Your Own Sweet Treats
In Pat Tanumihardja’s picture book, The Sugar Plum Bakers, kids follow the Sugar Plum Fairy and the Gingerbread Man as they create yummy treats. Children will love learning how to make brigadeiros and coating the fudge balls in sprinkles to eat.
12 p.m. - Science of Wind
In the picturebook, Wind is a Dance, Debra Shumaker takes kids on an exciting exploration of wind. Immerse yourself in wind science by using paper cups and straws to make your very own anemometer! Kids will love observing wind speed with this simple device!
1 p.m. - Show & Toon: Making Comics
John Gallagher, the author of the graphic novel series Max Meow, and Jamar Nicholas, author of the Leon series, teach you how to draw their characters. Teen and Adult Events - Upstairs at Old Town Hall
11 a.m - Fighting for Home
Authors Marina Budhos and Joe Milan, Jr. follow characters whose lives are disrupted by the U.S. immigration system. Budhos’s novel We Are All We Have follows an undocumented girl whose mom is seized by ICE. In Milan’s The All-American, a high schooler is deported to South Korea.
12:30 p.m. - Murder in the Jazz Age
Discover the glamorous and dangerous world of the Roaring Twenties in these historical murder mysteries: The Last Note of Warning by Katharine Schellman and A Deadly Endeavor by Jenny Adams.
2 p.m. - Twisted Tales
Alisa Alering and Keith Donohue astound with otherworldly mysteries. Alering’s Smothermoss tells the story of two sisters hunting for a killer in their town. Donohue’s The Girl in the Bog follows a woman who awakens after being preserved in a bog for two thousand years.
3:30 p.m. - Devilish Obsessions
Ananda Lima and Constance Sayers take readers to dark and surprising places. In Lima’s Craft: Stories I Wrote for the Devil, a writer meets the devil at a party and continues seeing him for the rest of her life.
