Chef Melissa Garrett is the owner operator of Carefree Creations and has over 5 years of experience working with catering and events. She started her own business almost 7 years ago as a certified event planner and Baker, but she has been working with indigenous foods all of her life. She has recently made this her focus, and it has become her passion. For the past three years she has helped the heart of American Indian center with their holiday pies for Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday boxes.
She is a registered tribal member of the Cherokee Nation, Quapaw Nation, and the Seneca-Cayuga Nation. She was the pow wow princess back in 2003 of the inner tribal Indian society. She is a second-generation storyteller and first-generation chef.
