The MFAH hosts an action-packed family festival celebrating legends and folklore from a variety of countries and cultures in the Americas. Now in its third year, the fall festival again features new, temporary large-scale sculptures by six Houston Latinx artists. This festival highlights the Museum’s commitment to Latin American and Latino art, and art of the Indigenous Americas.
This year’s festival—“Myths and Leyendas”—includes food, live music, and dance performances on the Brown Foundation, Inc. Plaza. Play a lotería game with cards featuring MFAH works of art, and wander through the Cullen Sculpture Garden to discover the sculptures and join in art-making activities.
Admission is free to the Museum and the festival activities, thanks to the generosity of H-E-B.
Visitors can explore the galleries to see works represented in the lotería game plus all of the art on view, which spans 5,000 years and six continents.
The Museum is open from 12:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
Check out the fare from food vendors including Cafe Leonelli at MFAH, Casita Coffee Co., Cochinita & Co. featuring Las Perras, Cocinando Con el Primo featuring Camila’s Catering, Elotes HTX, Flor y Miel, Octava Maravilla, Popston, El Rincón Paleteria y Neveria, and Sweets by Belen Dessert Boutique.
