Featured Exhibitions:
✦ 22nd Annual Kaleidoscope | Juried Exhibition
Kaleidoscope is an annual holiday show presented by the Alliance for the Visual Arts (AVA). This show is open to all members of AVA organizations: Akron Society of Artists (ASA), Artists of Rubber City (AoRC), Cuyahoga Valley Art Center (CVAC), Medina County Art League (MCAL), Ohio Collage Society (OSC), and Women’s Art League of Akron (WAL). This year's exhibition is juried by Meg Stanton, Art Consultant & Curator.
✦ Totally Stoned | Greg Caudill
Rock formations in primitive landscapes become personified in Greg Caudill's work. The setting and style of paleoart infused with textured layering of paint defines the artist’s acrylic paintings. Dubbed the “anti-Bob Ross” for his use of brutal brushstrokes, Greg has formed his own unique landscape style.
✦ Artist of Rubber City Member Exhibition
Based in Akron, Ohio, Artists of Rubber City (est. 1978) is a network of artists and art lovers who support each other’s creative endeavors. If you are interested in where the rubber hits the road in the Akron art community, this is the show for you!
✦ Ohio Reclaimed: What Once Was | Group Exhibition
This exhibition explores real Northeast Ohio landmarks in the midst of being reclaimed by nature. From the ferris wheel at Chippewa Lake to the locks in Cuyahoga Valley National Park, each location is examined through multiple mediums; poetry by Theresa Göttl Brightman, photography by Mary Defer, and paintings by Dee Fairweather. The work prompts questions about who the land belongs to—humankind or Mother Nature.
✦ Environ: in transport of delight | Linday Martin Gryskewich
Blending real and imaginary spaces, Lindsay Martin Gryskewich creates a map of everyday musings in her work. These texturally dense paintings fluidly combine interior and exterior spaces to form playful compositions that mirror life’s permanent spaces and temporary changes. The artist retraces her own surroundings as inspiration— colors at twilight in the garden, or perspectives from the family room window.
✦ Wall to Wall: Alexia Avdelas | Diana Rice | Lizzi Aronhalt | P31 Art
Wall-to-Wall is a program that showcases the work of Summit Artspace resident artists throughout the building’s hallways.
