Explore geometry and algebraic teaching strategies with Robertsdale High School mathematics educator Misty Gonzalez as she leads a lesson teaching concepts of percentages, ratios, and proportions through the examination of the golden ratio and the creation of an op art image.
Educators will participate in an interactive math lesson emphasizing interdisciplinary connections to be made between addressing mathematics standards and the visual arts. Misty will guide educators in teaching methods that incorporate mathematics and the visual arts as they relate to the golden ratio.
Educators will then have a guided tour through museum galleries facilitated by the museum education staff on effectively utilizing visual art in teaching mathematical concepts.
