The Des Moines Vocal Arts Ensemble opens its 2024-2025 season with a concert inspired by the season of harvest, homecoming, gratitude, and thanksgiving. Autumn balances light and dark. It is a season that causes people to acknowledge and embrace the impermanence of life, let go, and accept change. On this program, we’ll contemplate these themes as represented by modern composers including works by Stephen Paulus, Lee Hoiby, Aaron Copland, Eleanor Daley, Ola Gjeilo, and more. “Voices in Autumn” features exquisite texts that move, comfort, and inspire in the glorious acoustic space at Central Presbyterian Church.
