About: Fall, Aging & Taming the Wind
In our Colorado climate, Vata dosha (air and ether) requires special attention. As the “King of Doshas,” it plays a significant role in the aging & disease process. Learn to tame the Vata dosha so that you stay warm, juicy, grounded, and anxiety-free. Key to this process is the generous use of Ayurvedic oils and earthy grounding practices. Be prepared to apply herbal oil to your skin, ears, scalp and nostrils. We suggest wearing shorts under pants or a skirt plus a tank top under a long sleeved shirt or jacket.
Ayurveda for Daily Living: A 6 Part Series
Confused about how to live with Ayurveda? Want to know more beyond the doshas? This workshop is the first in a six-part series, Ayurveda for Daily Living, offered monthly from August 2026 through January 2027. Each workshop stands alone, so you may join for a single session or immerse yourself in the full journey.
Ayurveda, the ancient "science of life" and sister science to yoga, teaches that true wellness begins with understanding your own nature — and then living in harmony with it. Across the series, you will move beyond theory into the practical art of daily living: how to eat, rest, move, and care for yourself in alignment with your unique constitution and the rhythms of the seasons.
Part 1: You Are Made of the Universe — Saturday, August 15, 2026
Part 2: Living Rhythms: Daily & Seasonal Practices — Saturday, September 19, 2026
Part 3: Fall, Aging & Taming the Wind — Saturday, October 10, 2026
Part 4: Ayurvedic Diet to Nourish Body, Mind, and Soul — Saturday, November 21, 2026
Part 5: Stir the Pot: Ayurvedic Cooking Class — Saturday, December 12, 2026 @ Maria Gabriela's House Off Site
Part 6: Herbal Allies for Every Day — Saturday, January 16, 2027

About Your Guides
This series is led by two of Karma Yoga Center's beloved Ayurvedic practitioners, both of whom serve at our Soma Spa and teach in our regular yoga schedule.
Beth Gurupriya Sanchez is the heart of the Soma Spa — our lead Shirodhara practitioner and Ayurvedic consultant, and the loving "Spa-Ma" who guides and trains our circle of healers. A devoted student of Ayurveda through Alandi Ashram under the revered Ayurvedic doctor and teacher Alakananda Ma, she brings decades of dedicated study and practice to her work, grounded in the marma therapy and herbal-oil traditions that live at the very heart of Ayurveda. A longtime yoga teacher at Karma Yoga Center, Beth also leads the Ayurveda studies within our Yoga Teacher Training programs.
Maria Gabriela Guevara is a clinical pharmacist turned Ayurveda Health Coach — a rare bridge between Western medicine and ancient Eastern healing. A Doctor of Pharmacy with more than 800 hours of training in Ayurveda and yoga, certified as both an Ayurveda Health Counselor and Wellness Coach through the Shakti School, she serves as one of the Soma Spa's Ayurvedic consultants and teaches in our regular yoga schedule. It was Ayurveda that guided Maria Gabriela out of burnout and back into relationship with her own body, and she brings both scientific rigor and deep intuitive care to everything she shares.
Together, Beth and Maria Gabriela offer a living, embodied transmission of Ayurveda — one rooted in traditional lineage, the other bridging ancient wisdom with modern science. Join them and discover how this timeless practice can transform your everyday life.
