About this Event
Local churches care deeply about their neighbours, yet it can be challenging to understand how to support the community in ways that are meaningful, sustainable, and rooted in faith. This workshop introduces a practical and hopeful approach called Asset-Based Community Development, which begins by recognizing the God-given strengths, gifts, and relationships already present in our neighbourhoods.
Through guided activities, theological reflection, and insights from frontline community service experience, participants will explore what it means to be a faithful presence in their local contexts. You will learn how churches can build stronger connections, discover local assets, and respond to community needs in ways that empower rather than replace.
This session will also provide a look at the YSM Church Engagement Project and how it supports congregations in taking the next steps in their community development journey.
Join us for a time of learning, discovery, and inspiration as we seek together what God is already doing in our communities and how we can actively participate.
