Faith in Action PBC is a group of community leaders and organizations empowering the interfaith community to join the effort to provide safe and affordable housing in Palm Beach County. This is one of a series of workshops they have hosted that address the housing crisis in our county.
The keynote speaker for this FREE event will be the REV. DR. RUSSELL MEYER, Executive Director of the Florida Council of Churches. Rev. Meyer has led campaigns on justice reform, healthcare, education, refugees, climate, and civic participation. He says, "I find joy in bringing diverse people together in an open space where new communities of action emerge."
Other speakers will be:
TEQUISHA MYLES, Supervising Attorney of Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County, who litigates claims of discrimination against housing providers, and
MACK BERNARD, Palm Beach County Commissioner and a long-time leader and advocate for affordable housing in Palm Beach County.
Small-group discussion topics will include:
* establishing “safe parking” and temporary storage for those living in cars,
* ending food insecurity,
* connecting those in need with required services, and
* encouraging congregations and faith-based communities to engage in the effort to provide safe housing for the unhoused.
Please join this interfaith forum to learn more about the issue of affordable housing, to connect with others already working to resolve it, and to collaborate with them to create change.
