About this Event

Join Auburn for Faith and Democracy at 250: A Story Circle

Join Auburn Theological Seminary's Center for Storytelling and Narrative Change for a story circle centering on the 250 years since the colonies declared their independence. Auburn's Erica Littlewolf, Vonahe'e, Northern Cheyenne, will lead a story circle process to explore our religious and cultural narratives in relation to this 250th anniversary of Independence. This is a participatory story-sharing and story-receiving process focused on healing and repair. All are welcome in the circle.

Storytelling and narrative change efforts equip leaders with tools to identify, engage, and transform the religious and spiritually rooted narratives and stories that cause fear, scarcity, division, distrust, isolation, and alienation. Auburn’s work centers on religious and cultural narratives, addressing the complexity that religion has been used to harm and heal our communities.

Over the last year, Auburn's Center for Storytellling and Narrative Change has hosted virtual and "quiet conversations" with religious, faith, and cultural leaders who are teaching us how to heal. From Pulitzer Prize and Oscar Nominated Indigenous storytellers to hosting in Indigenous communities, Auburn has hosted over 150 leaders in the last year to better understand religion and its relationship to this land.

Through Auburn’s Center for Storytelling and Narrative Change work, Auburn

  • Develops and shares prophetic and hopeful narratives that lead to healing and the common good.
  • Hosts storytelling gatherings, virtually and in-person, focused on healing from historic harm.
