Are you a Chattahoochee Tech student who needs help completing the 2021-2022 FAFSA? Attend one of our FAFSA Friday Workshops!
About this Event

FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Yes, it's FREE to complete and you could be eligible for federal and/or state aid grants/scholarships to help pay for college!

Although most students can complete the FAFSA on their own, we understand others need more guidance. If that's you, come join us at our workshop and we would be happy to help. Our Financial Aid Officers will provide a one-on-one experience to guide you through the FAFSA as needed so you may successfully submit your 2021-2022 FAFSA for the Fall 2021, Spring 2022, and Summer 2022 semesters.

The FAFSA provides a Data Retrieval Tool (DRT) which allows some students/parents to transfer their income tax information directly from the IRS into the application. If you/parent did not file or make wages in 2019, tax documentation will not be needed. If you/parent did file or make wages and are unable to use the DRT, please gather the documents below needed to complete your FAFSA and bring them with you to the workshop:

- Your Social Security number (it’s important that you enter it correctly on the FAFSA form!)

- Your parents’ Social Security numbers if you are a dependent student

- Your driver’s license number if you have one

- Your Alien Registration number if you are not a U.S. citizen

- 2019 Federal tax information or tax returns including IRS W-2 information, for you (and your spouse, if you are married), and for your parents if you are a dependent student:

- 2019 IRS 1040

- 2019 Foreign tax return, IRS 1040NR, or IRS 1040NR-EZ

- 2019 Tax return for Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Marshall Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, or Palau

- Records of your 2019 untaxed income, such as child support received, interest income, and veterans noneducation benefits, for you, and for your parents if you are a dependent student

- Information on cash; savings and checking account balances; investments, including stocks and bonds and real estate (but not including the home in which you live); and business and farm assets for you, and for your parents if you are a dependent student

PLEASE NOTE:

- Spaces are limited. Please make sure you are able to attend the workshop during the time you have selected before reserving your spot. Walk-ins will not be welcomed due to limited spaces and social distancing efforts. Please have your FAFSA Friday Student Ticket when you arrive to the workshop.

- This workshop is only intended for those who are unable to complete the FAFSA on their own and need further guidance. First-time FAFSA applicants are encouraged to attend the workshop.

- We will not be completing the FAFSA for you, only guidance will be provided to ensure you successfully complete and submit the FAFSA. The FAFSA cannot be successfully submitted without the required information and documentation listed above.

- Dependent students (Find out your Dependency Status: https://studentaid.gov/apply-for-aid/fafsa/filling-out/dependency) have to provide parental information and will need to ensure they have all parental information available at the workshop and/or may bring their parent(s) to the workshop (include in ticket quantity).
