About this Event

The Columbus State Faculty Idea Exchange (FIX) is an annual summer conference hosted by the CSCC Instructional Success Committee (ISC) that provides a forum where college educators from Central Ohio and beyond can share and compare best teaching practices. College teachers from every institution are invited!

FIX 2023 is scheduled for June 9, 2023 from 8:30 am - 2:30 pm at the Columbus State Community College WD Conference Center.

We are excited to announce that this year’s keynote and plenary speaker is Dr. Barbara Oakley, a Distinguished Professor of Engineering at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. Her work focuses on the complex relationship between neuroscience and social behavior. She created and teaches Coursera’s “Learning How to Learn,” one of the world’s most popular massive open online course with over three million registered students, along with other popular “Top MOOCs of All Time.” Barb is a New York Times best-selling author who has published in outlets as varied as the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, the Wall Street Journal, and The New York Times—her book A Mind for Numbers has sold over a million copies worldwide. She is a Fellow of both the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering.

In addition to the featured speaker, breakout sessions focusing on student success and best teaching practices will be presented by faculty and other education experts from higher-ed institutions of Central Ohio (and beyond). Please see CALL FOR PROPOSALS below for details on how to submit a proposal to present.

PLEASE SAVE THE DATE AND REGISTER ABOVE TO JOIN US FOR ANOTHER CAN'T-MISS OPPORTUNITY! SEE YOU AT FIX 2023!

Thank you for being a part of this unique professional development opportunity! Special thanks to the following for their support: CSCC Office of College Completion, CSCC Faculty Entry, Training, and Professional Development (FETPD) Committee, Dr. David Harrison - CSCC President, CSCC Administration, Members of the CSCC Instructional Success Committee (host)
