About this Event

Facilitating Self-care for Community, Health, and Care Workers

We are excited to invite you to our upcoming breast cancer peer navigation program launch!

Since 2020, Black Ladies Advocating for Cancer Care (BLACC) has worked in partnership with Stanford Medicine-Office of Community Engagement (Stanford OCE) towards the development of a breast cancer peer navigation program for Black breast cancer patients and survivors. In 2022 we partnered with Charlotte Maxwell Clinic (CMC) to host our pilot peer navigation program out of their integrative care clinic in Oakland.

We invite you to join us to learn more about our efforts that led to the development of this program and corresponding study to evaluate its acceptability and effectiveness on increasing well being for Black breast cancer patients and survivors.

Our theme is "Facilitating Self-care for Community, Health, and Care Workers" and we hope you take advantage of some free self-care services that we will offer as demonstration:

  • Acupuncture
  • Massage
  • Physical Movement
  • Beauty and Personal Care
  • Mindfulness Meditation

We recognize that being a member of the care community can be taxing, and we often neglect our own care in favor of serving our community.

Don't miss this opportunity to recharge, to learn about BLACC and its efforts, and network with other community care members. We will also be serving a delightful continental breakfast along with refreshments throughout the event!

Given the interactive nature of this event, we recommend that you dress for comfort and mobility. Please consider wearing comfortable clothing suitable for mild physical activity and close-toed shoes as you see fit.

As we eagerly anticipate connecting and partaking in self-care activities at our event, we remain strongly committed to prioritizing the health and safety of all our participants. Aligning with current health guidelines, we encourage all attendees to take actions that best suit their comfort levels and personal health circumstances. For those who choose to, we will have face masks readily available. Furthermore, if you encounter respiratory symptoms, we strongly recommend seeking medical advice and considering a COVID-19 test to further ensure the safety of all participants.
