Face a Friend

Come make some new friends by staring at their faces! Local artist Linus Schief will guide us through speed friending by creating portraits without looking down at the paper. No art experience? No problem! This is less about quality and more about mutual vulnerability and silliness. You would be surprised what emerges when we let go of a bit of control!

There will be yummy drinks and bites available for purchase from the Mercado Annex businesses, and a chance to shop at Linus' shop Warm Shape.

Our Collaborator

Hi I’m Linus Schief, the artist behind “Face Me,” a project that began in January 2024 at a group art show called “Face It,” where I did an interactive experiment of starting out with no art on my wall, and drawing attendees without looking down at the paper all night, hanging the drawings one by one.

My main goal was connection and fun > hanging premade art and trying to get people interested in it via an artist statement (borrrring! lol). It worked, it was great! So great that I kept doing it at my shop, Warm Shape, in Tucson, AZ, and at bars, parties, markets, music shows, movie screenings, comic book events, dance parties, etc. Eventually I started offering workshops where people draw each other this way. It’s SO FUN.

I do several types of workshops: speed-dating, speed-friending, partner drawing, flower drawing & coloring, stranger drawing, etc. and I also hold draw portraits at various events and establishments around Tucson.

I look forward to “facing you” soon!

Cancelation Policy
Unfortunately for this event tickets are non-refundable/exchange-able! Please double check your calendar before booking. In the event you are no longer able to make it, you are welcome to send a friend in your spot. Just send us an email with their name 24 hours in advance.

When you register, please feel free to use your chosen name. We use this list to check people in and we want your first experience at the event to be an affirming one!
