Fabulous Fall Leaves Jewelry Workshop

FAVO - Faith Arts Village Orlando - is located at 718 Highland Ave. To enter the facility, turn north on Highland from Colonial at the stoplight, and enter the second driveway on the left, through a black fence. You will see a sign that says "Park Lake Presbyterian Church, FAVO Art Studios". Proceed through the parking lot to the far right and rear and on through the driveway connecting to a second parking lot. You will see an L-shaped building with colorful doors - that's us! I am studio 237, second from the end upstairs on the right. Look for the moons!

Info: During the first few minutes of the class, we will have a brief introduction to metal clay: what exactly it is and how it works. You will be provided with a tool kit to use for the class and given 10 grams of fine silver metal clay. At the end of the introduction you will be given the opportunity to scout the grounds for a few minutes for attractive flora!

Info: During this portion of the class we will create the basic form of our piece. You will be shown how to roll, cut, and shape the clay, and how to use the leaves to create textures.

Info: Once you have formed your pieces, you will leave them to dry and take a break for lunch. There is a wide variety of restaurants near the studio, or you are welcome to bring your lunch and eat in the studio.

Info: Once the pieces are completely dry, it's time to refine them. You will learn how to file, sand and smooth the greenware pieces, drill holes, etc., and prepare the pieces for firing.

Info: Once the pieces are ready, the instructor will fire them with a torch. You can watch while they turn from dry clay into pure silver! Then you will finish and polish the pieces and add patina if desired. You will be given a sterling silver chain or a pair of ear wires to complete your piece, and away you go with your beautiful new real leaf jewelry!
