Om Jens Christian Kwella:
Lektor i rytmisk guitar, sammenspil og musikteori ved Det Jyske Musikkonservatorium.
Kwella har siden 1986 arbejdet som professionel guitarist og har en lang erfaring inden for stort set alle jazzens genrer fra traditionel jazz til eksperimenterende og elektronisk jazz.
Han er og har været udøvende guitarist, komponist og arrangør i egne grupper og har sideløbende virket som guitarist med en lang række danske og udenlandske bands og solister. Sammenlagt er det blevet til ca. 100-130 koncerter om året både i Danmark og i udlandet.
De sidste år har Kwella komponeret til og spillet fast med grupperne Paraphrasing feat. Thomas Fryland, Kwella/Bjørnskov, Et letsindigt ord, Etnolab, Hede Hule Hot, samt en række andre konstellationer. Derudover har han også optrådt med Randy Brecker (US) Aarhus Jazz Orchestra, Palle Mikkelborg, Aalborg Symfoniorkester, Sønder-jyllands Symfoniorkester, Ginne Marker, Karmen Roivasepp, Uffe Steen, Jesper Løvdal, John Stowell (US), Ulf Bandgren (S), Gimo Mendes (MZ), Blood Sweat Drum and Bass Big Band, Gregory Boyd (USA), Mageshen Naido (SA).
Kwella har indspillet og udgivet syv anmelderroste albums i eget navn. Senest udsendte han med Kwella/Bjørnskov i 2018 "Slowing Down The Tune" (Gateway), der begejstrede anmelderne, og har desuden medvirket på adskillige andre udgivelser. Blandt disse kan nævnes “The Science of Meetings” med Etnolab i 2017, “Creaures” med Organic Picnic i 2015, “Milonga Triste” med TangoJazz (Gateway) i 2014 og “In The Spirit Of” med Blood Sweat Drum and Bass Bigband feat. Palle Mikkelborg og Dave Liebman (Biem).
Kwella tog diplomeksamen med hovedfaget guitar fra Det Jyske Musikkonservatorium i 2000 og siden 2001 har han undervist på konservatorierne i Aarhus og Aalborg. De to konservatorier er nu fusioneret under navnet Det Jyske Musikkonservatorium, og her har han siden 2010 været ansat som lektor i rytmisk guitar, sammenspil og musikteori. Han har også været gæstelærer på konservatorier i Italien, Sydafrika, Norge og Sverige.

About Jens Christian Kwella: Lecturer in rhythmic guitar, ensemble and music theory at the Jutland Conservatory of Music.
Kwella has worked as a professional guitarist since 1986 and has extensive experience in virtually all genres of jazz, from traditional jazz to experimental and electronic jazz.
He is and has been a performing guitarist, composer and arranger in his own groups and has simultaneously worked as a guitarist with a large number of Danish and foreign bands and soloists. Altogether, this has amounted to approx. 100-130 concerts a year both in Denmark and abroad.
In recent years, Kwella has composed for and played regularly with the groups Paraphrasing feat. Thomas Fryland, Kwella/Bjørnskov, Et letzindigt ord, Etnolab, Hede Hule Hot, as well as a number of other constellations. Kwella has recorded and released seven critically acclaimed albums under his own name. Most recently, he released "Slowing Down The Tune" (Gateway) with Kwella/Bjørnskov in 2018, which thrilled the critics, and has also contributed to several other releases. Among these can be mentioned "The Science of Meetings" with Etnolab in 2017, "Creaures" with Organic Picnic in 2015, "Milonga Triste" with TangoJazz (Gateway) in 2014 and "In The Spirit Of" with Blood Sweat Drum and Bass Bigband feat Palle Mikkelborg and Dave Liebman (Biem).
Kwella graduated with a major in guitar from the Jutland Conservatory of Music in 2000 and since 2001 he has taught at the conservatories in Aarhus and Aalborg. The two conservatories have now merged under the name Det Juyske Musikkonservatorium, and here since 2010 he has been employed as a lecturer in rhythmic guitar, ensemble and music theory. He has also been a guest teacher at conservatories in Italy, South Africa, Norway and Sweden.
