Leya (harpist Marilu Donovan and vocalist/violinist Adam Markiewicz) have spent years building a world that MoMA, P☆☆nHub, and fashion runways have all found their way into. Not because the duo chased those spaces, but because the music defies easy placement. A detuned harp system, an operatic voice in an unlikely range, violin processed until it dissolves into something unrecognisable. Pitchfork put it well: music that "revels in the tension between elegance and disquiet."
Leya are coming for the first time to Bike Jesus, F2's bestie and partner in crime for this occasion, on Monday, October 5.
