F1® in Schools Manchester Metropolitan University Development Session

On the 8th February Manchester Met will host a F1 in Schools development session. The session will be a great opportunity for you to discuss your design ideas and project proposals so far… There will be a team of staff from Manchester Met supporting the session; they will be Lecturers from Design and Engineering along with specialist Technical staff.

Points that we may consider during the session are:

• How will forces impact the car’s performance?

• What design features may help the car to go faster?

• What might cause the car to go slower?

• Relevant sciences such as friction, air resistance, gravity and air pressure.

• How to develop ideas through sketching.

• How to style the car and your Visual Brand Language (VBL)

• Design for manufacture

The session will take place on the 8th February from 12:00 – 15:00

Guests will arrive at Manchester Met John Dalton Campus between 11:45 – 12:00

Travel will be provided by guest.

There are no parking facilities available at Manchester Met, however there are a number of car parks close by, details will follow.

There are good public transport links to Manchester Met, details will follow.

Manchester Met will provide refreshments, guests can bring their own lunch (there are areas to relax and eat before and after the session finishes), or use the Manchester Met onsite restaurants.

• 11:45 - 12:00 Arrive at Manchester Met

• 12:10 – 12:30 Introductions and short presentation

• 12:30 – 14:00 Present and discuss your ideas so far

• 14:00 – 14:45 Tour of the facilities including manufacturing

• 14:45 – 15:00 Department Manchester Met

The session promises to be a great opportunity to gain support, move your design ideas forward, make some new contacts and have an enjoyable afternoon!
