Since 2017, Eyehategod focused almost entirely on touring, spending three intense years on the road across the U.S. and in countries they had never played before. Writing a new album was put on hold while the band lived out of vans, backstage rooms, and tour buses.
That period of constant movement, combined with Mike IX Williams’ serious health crisis, global political unrest, and the COVID-19 pandemic, shaped A History of Nomadic Behavior. The album captures chaos, exhaustion, anger, and survival through mid-paced, heavy, blues-soaked sludge, staying raw while showing a more mature and structured approach.
Though not a political band, current events and social tension seeped into the lyrics in abstract, subliminal ways. Ultimately, the record reflects Eyehategod’s long-standing philosophy: confronting misery head-on and turning it into catharsis, energy, and something that’s still—after more than three decades—fun to create.
