Abstract: An extrasolar object is an astronomical object that exists outside of our solar system, however, these objects, including asteroids and comets can be pulled toward our Solar System and are then termed interstellar objects. This talk will explore the confirmed extrasolar objects, such as Oumuamua and 3I/ATLAS, what they are, and where they might have come from. Jayden’s recent collaboration with Harvard Scientists will be presented, with the latest data of the CNEOS spherules, which are suggested to have occurred from the impact of Interstellar Meteor CNEOS 2014-1-8 into the Pacific Ocean. Additionally, you will hear about his recent trip to top-tier US laboratories and a layman’s explanation for how ultra-high precision isotope measurements are made and what they mean for meteoritical science.
Bio: Jayden Squire is a PhD Candidate (Isotope Geochemistry) at Adelaide University, focusing on geochronology and isotopic anomalies in meteorite craters and vesta meteorites. In early 2026 he undertook a visiting PhD fellowship at Harvard University in the Harvard Cosmochemistry Lab, learning how to analyse and manage extraterrestrial samples, including those collected on the Apollo missions. He assists in curating the Ralph Tate Geoscience Museum located in the Mawson Building at Adelaide University and has assisted in the curation of displays related to deep time, meteorites, evolution, and lithic technology during human evolution. He enjoys giving talks to school groups and members of the general public both at the Museum and elsewhere about these topics.
PLEASE NOTE THIS IS NOT A PUBLIC PLANETARIUM SESSION.
