This marks the 13th annual CSA Extra Life Charity Gaming Marathon to raise money for the Children's Miracle Network. Our participants have been dedicated in past years, staying up for full 24-hour gaming marathons and raising thousands of dollars for this very worthy cause.
Note: You do NOT need to be a CSA member or a current CS student to participate. This is an event for the whole UNB community (students, alumni, faculty/staff, friends & family).
This year, Game Day at UNB will be on Saturday, November 22nd.
Note: The suggested date for Extra Life falls at the start of Fall Reading Week for UNB, so we have decided to hold our 2025 UNB Extra Life event on a different weekend (after everyone is back from Reading Week). As indicated here, the event kicks off at 8:00 am on Nov. 22 and runs for 24 hours, ending at 8:00 am on Nov. 23.
This is an in-person event. We will try to include a few virtual components, so that CSA Extra Life team members who are unable to attend in person (e.g. those not in Fredericton) may join in some of the fun, but most of the planned events (e.g. tournaments, etc.) will be held in person.
To participate in this event, please go to https://www.extra-life.org/team/UNBCSA and click "Join our team". When registering, you may select to support any one of the hospitals listed (our local Children's Miracle Network Hospital is the IWK in Halifax, NS). You may also choose to be a "classic" (free) or "platinum" (US$19) player. As a platinum player, you can unlock special prizes from Extra Life when you reach certain fundraising milestones.
To be eligible for CSA Extra Life tournaments, prize draws, etc. during the event, we also require all attendees to raise at least CDN$15 (US$11) before game day. If you are unable to fundraise this money prior to the event, you will be required to contribute $15 towards our team fundraising for full access to the fun & rewards that we have planned. So from now until November 22nd, ask your friends, family, and community to sponsor you in support of the Children's Miracle Network Hospital of your choosing.
**CS House Points**
For those of you who are members of one of our CS Houses, there are points to be earned at this event! Here's how:
- Points will be awarded to the House(s) with the most participants. ("Participating" means that you: joined the CSA team, raised/donated at least CDN$15 (US$11), and came to the event and/or participated in an online challenge on game day.)
- Points will also be awarded to the House(s) that raise the most money. (For these points, we will be looking at the total amount raised by all House members by the end of the day on November 23rd.)
