Extension Master Gardener℠ Volunteer Program Interest Meeting
About this Event
Considering becoming a North Carolina Extension Master Gardener℠ volunteer? Join us for an informational session to learn what the program involves before applying for our 2027–2028 class.
What you'll learn:
- What Extension Master Gardener volunteers do: staffing the Plant Clinic, leading Arboretum tours, maintaining demonstration gardens, supporting the annual Plant Sale, and more
- Your path to becoming a volunteer: a structured training course based on the NC Extension Gardener Handbook, followed by a volunteer service internship where you put what you've learned into practice
- What New Hanover County's program looks like day to day, home to over 200 active volunteers
- How to apply, what the timeline looks like, and what commitment is expected
Class schedule: Classes run January through May 2027. The specific weekly meeting day and time will be determined by the availability of accepted applicants, so it isn't finalized until after acceptance decisions go out. View the course syllabus here.
