Modern artists (since the late 1800s) revolutionized visual arts by moving away from a realistic portrayal of a subject and tried to express concepts based on emotions rather than visual appearance. For this session, we will make a picture that expresses what’s on the “inside” of the subject, rather than focusing on how it appears.
There are 2 ways to participate:
In person - If you are interested in attending in person, meet at the Arizona Artists Guild Studio located at 18411 North 7th Avenue Phoenix, AZ, 85023. To ensure safe indoor social distancing, class size will be limited to 15 participants. Everyone will get their own table and supplies will be provided. Masks are required for non vaccinated participants. You are invited to pre-register by clicking on the zoom link below.

What to expect: David Bradley is a professor of ceramics and drawing at Paradise Valley Community College. David will explain the art project and provide inspiration to help you get started. Then, he will demonstrate art making techniques and answer any questions you might have. Next, everyone works on their project. At the end of the session, anyone who wants to share their art will have an opportunity. Class lasts approximately 1 - 2 hours and no skills are necessary.
Who is this for? This workshop is a safe and positive space for suicide loss survivors, people who struggle, attempt survivors, and their supportive family and friends to meet and make art together. Explore your creativity and become part of a growing community.
