Avec « Senimikwaldamw8gan - Mémoire de pierre », Mélanie O’Bomsawin rend hommage à ses grands-pères en explorant la notion de mémoire. Monteuse, artiste en nouveaux médias, patenteuse, geek et vidéaste, Mélanie O'Bomsawin travaille la vidéo sous toutes ses formes. C'est à travers des installations, des projections et des documentaires qu'elle explore ses liens avec celleux qui étaient là avant elle et celleux qui suivront. Les questions d'identité, de mémoire et de transmission du savoir sont au centre de sa pratique. Mélanie est d'origine w8banaki (abénakise) et québécoise, et vit présentement à Tiohtià:ke/Mooniyaang/Montréal. Elle crée pour les générations passées et celles à venir.

"First Fifth"

La pratique de Roberto Santaguida, découlant de ses études, d'abord en cinéma, puis en arts visuels, se concentre sur la déconstruction des traditions du documentaire par l’application de principes poétiques et de questionnements philosophiques. First Fifth, une installation vidéo à quinze canaux, raconte l'histoire de la vie humaine à travers des vidéos maison, du found footage et des films abstraits.

Depuis la fin de ses études en production cinématographique à l'Université Concordia, les films et vidéos de Roberto Santaguida ont été montrés dans plus de trois-cents festivals internationaux. Il a également participé à des résidences d'artistes dans de nombreux pays, notamment en Iran, en Roumanie, en Allemagne, en Norvège et en Australie. Roberto est le récipiendaire de la K.M. Hunter Artist Award et d’une bourse de l'Akademie Schloss Solitude, en Allemagne.
Exposition présentée conjointement par OBORO et Vidéographe dans le cadre de LUX – Résidence de création et de diffusion, une initiative de Main Film, OBORO, PRIM et Vidéographe avec le soutien du Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec.

With « Senimikwaldamw8gan - Mémoire de pierre », Mélanie O’Bomsawin pays homage to her grandfathers by exploring the notion of memory. Video editor, digital media artist, tinkerer, geek and videographer, Mélanie O'Bomsawin works with video in all its forms. Using installations, projections and documentaries, she explores her relationships with the people who were there before her and those who will follow. Questions of identity, memory and knowledge transmission are at the centre of her practice. Mélanie is of w8banaki (Abenaki) and québécois descent, and she currently lives in Tiohtià:ke/Mooniyaang/Montréal. She makes art for past and future generations.

Roberto Santaguida
"First Fifth"

Influenced by his studies, first in film production, then in visual arts, Roberto Santaguida’s practice focusses on deconstructing the traditions of the documentary genre by applying principles of poetry and questions of philosophy. "First Fifth", a fifteen-channel video installation, tells the story of human life by using home videos, found footage and abstract films.

Since completing his studies in film production at Concordia University, Roberto Santaguida’s films and videos have been shown at more than 300 international festivals. He has also taken part in artist residencies in numerous countries, including Iran, Romania, Germany, Norway, and Australia. Roberto is the recipient of the K.M. Hunter Artist Award, the Chalmers Arts Fellowship and a fellowship from Akademie Schloss Solitude in Germany.
