About this Event
Exploring the Archive
Join us at the University of Central Lancashire for a fascinating event where we delve into the depths of historical records and uncover hidden treasures using creative practice. In this two-hour workshop, participants will be given a tour of UCLan Special Collections and an introduction to the work of Heavy Water in the Hanover Building. They will then take part in a creative workshop using clay, collage and drawing processes to explore archival material.
Exploring the Archive offers a unique opportunity to learn about the work of Heavy Water Collective and their approach to working with archives. Discover rare documents, photographs, and artifacts that shed light on the past and learn ways in which to make artworks in response. This in-person event promises an immersive experience that will ignite your curiosity and spark your imagination.
This event is part of a day of programmed activities to co-incide with the launch of Hollows, an art exhibition by the Heavy Water Collective taking place at Hanover Project, Hanover Building, on the University of Central Lancashire's Preston campus. Heavy Water is an artist collective that draws from archives and collections to create artworks that reclaim narratives in a contemporary context. For more information visit www.heavywater.info
