About this Event
This session will address issues and considerations relating to student attendance and retention at the University of Portsmouth. Post-COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns, there has been a global decrease in student attendance at in-person timetabled sessions which can lead to lower student retention long-term. This session will discuss the key factors to consider when looking to improve student attendance on degree programmes, as well as outline the sector themes impacting student engagement. Participants will critically reflect on their students’ behaviours and patterns of engagement to create solutions for local contexts. Finally, the session will hold discussions on how to improve belonging and community on programmes to further support student retention.
By the end of this session, you will be able to:
- Discuss the key considerations and factors leading to student engagement with in-person curriculum.
- Apset of applications for improving student community and a sense of belonging for students post COVID-19.
- Critically reflect on curriculum design considerations for increasing student engagement and retention on your programmes.
