Exploring Pasadena on Foot: Art & Artists of Pasadena
Saturday, May 3 | 10:00 to 12:00 pm
Join PMH Curator of History & Exhibitions Julia Long on this Exploring Pasadena on Foot walking tour.
Around the turn of the 20th century, the Arroyo Seco and the winding streets overlooking it were a hotbed of creative activity, attracting artists, bohemians, and craftspeople, and inspiring wealthy patrons to host salons in their nearby Orange Grove mansions. Due to the talents of people like tilemaker Ernest Batchelder and architects Charles and Henry Greene, Pasadena became one of the centers of the American Arts & Crafts movement (one of only three in the country). On this tour, you’ll learn about Pasadena’s role in cultivating this movement and the people whose talents - as well as their varied interests in history and multicultural sources of inspiration - made it successful. Come walk in their footsteps and learn more about their lives and art, all while enjoying some of Pasadena’s most stunning scenery.
This tour will begin in front of the Court of Appeals/ Vista del Arroyo building (125 S Grand Ave, Pasadena, CA 91105) and end at Orange Grove and California.
Please note: This walking tour features a steep incline/decline.
An illustrated lecture version of this walking tour is scheduled for Thursday, May 15 at 7:00 pm. Tickets and information, .
