Exploring North Greenford – Green Spaces, Growing & Community
About this Event
Join me on a relaxed Sunday afternoon walk through North Greenford, exploring its green spaces, local neighbourhoods, community growing projects and some of the people behind them.
We will meet at Sudbury Hill Station and begin by exploring Grove Farm Nature Reserve, with Amrita from the Friends of Grove Farm joining us to tell us more about this valuable local green space.
From Grove Farm, we will continue through the residential area south of Whitton Avenue, before following a path towards the community growing site.
Then, we will enter Feeding Ealing CIC / Horsenden Grape & Honey Farm via the polytunnel and growing area. We will have a chance to hear more about the work taking place there and explore this community growing space.
We will then take a short walk to the HAAGA allotments up the road, where we will see the allotments and finish the walk with tea/coffee and time to chat together.
The walk is not a race! We will have time to stop, look, talk and hear stories along the way. As with all Talking and Exploring walks, there is room for conversation, questions, contributions and the unexpected things we encounter.
Optional food afterwards
If you would like to stay on after the walk for more food and conversation, there is also the possibility of continuing to Piwnica na Pietrze, a local Polish restaurant.
This is completely optional and not part of the walk or included in the ticket. Please note that the restaurant closes at 5pm on Sundays, so anyone particularly keen to go there should bear this in mind when deciding whether to continue.
About the walk
This free walk is part of the EWTEG–GOSaD community programme, supported by Ealing Council, and everyone is welcome. We particularly hope to bring together local residents, people connected with community organisations and people who may not usually join organised walks.
Talking and Exploring walks are not repeated guided tours. Each one is a different experience, shaped together on the day by the people who come, the places and people we encounter, and the conversations that develop along the way. Everyone is welcome to contribute, share their perspective and learn from others if they wish.
And the connection doesn't have to end when the walk does: participants can keep in touch through the Ealing Walking, Talking and Exploring Group, where people can continue conversations and share photographs and experiences after the walk.

We will meet outside the station at 1.30pm.
Please arrive a few minutes early so we can set off promptly.

The route includes pavements, paths and some green/open spaces. Comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing are recommended.
The walk will go ahead in light rain, but exceptionally bad weather may require changes.
Places are limited, so booking is essential.
